She is touted for her beauty in the old testament. Her beauty captivated the love of the king, one with the king redefined her destiny.
Not only was Esther obedient to her uncle, she had a noble character. Her beauty was accompanied by sound mind and good judgement, these made her a star, for that is what her name means.
Although some scholars such as Martin Luther vehemently objected the canonicity of the book of Esther citing its zionist inclination, yet if you take a keen look at the book, you will see God's grace at work to save a helpless people, people who were in desperate need for a savior. It is humanity's story.
Haman's promotion marks the greatest setup in history. The guy was promoted for doing nothing yet Mordecai who unveiled the palace plot to assassinate the king receives no reward. Its amazing how these events fall in place geared towards a climax not only exhilarating but also but also a spectacular turn around.
It was God's grace at work when on the night that the king was restless and lost sleep hence decided listen to the chronicles of the kingdom, that he discovered that Mordecai had not been rewarded for unveiling the assassination plot. The king decided to give Haman the task of rewarding Mordecai who apparently was his arch enemy, a task which not only was humiliating but also very painful to him, this was a turn around from his plan, it marked the beginning of his end.
The events culminated to Haman being hanged in the gallows he had prepared to hang Mordecai. The Jews are given authority to defend themselves and Mordecai is promoted. This turn of events happens drastically, the genocide was averted and Jews were in celebratory mood again.
If it was not the sovereign hand of God at work, these events would not have all fallen in place leading to the deliverance of the Jews. It is evident and open that God was at work to preserve his people and that God is sovereign over all nations. God is able to protect even in the most difficult circumstance ever.
